The workshop is open to postgraduate students (master's and doctoral candidates) from all disciplines worldwide, with a very strong interest in or research focus on Indonesian infrastructures. Relevant fields include, but are not limited to, sociology, anthropology, geography, history, public policy, environmental science, environmental studies, urban planning, engineering, public health, development studies, science and technology studies law, and human rights. The School offers a unique space to think collaboratively, critically, and creatively about how Indonesian infrastructures shaping our world and vice versa. To maintain high-quality mentorship, the cohort is strictly limited to 15 participants.
For participants residing outside of Malang, the School provides on-site accommodation in single occupancy rooms. While a restricted number of travel grants may be awarded to candidates with exceptional proposals and clear motivation, all prospective attendees are strongly urged to independently secure their own travel support to facilitate their participation in the School.
Although English is the primary language for classroom instruction, certain field visits informants may communicate exclusively in Bahasa Indonesia. Non-professional translation services will be available for participants who are not proficient in the local language. Consequently, a foundational understanding of Bahasa Indonesia is recommended to better comprehend the content and cultural nuances of the information presented by local informants.
